Severance pay calculator
Korea's statutory severance pay for leaving after a year or more of service, based on your wages for the last three months (average wage).
Formula Daily average wage = (3 months' wages + annual bonus × 3/12 + leave pay × 3/12) ÷ 89–92 days; severance = daily average wage × 30 × (days of service ÷ 365). If the average wage is below the ordinary wage, the ordinary wage is used, but this form handles the average wage only. Actual payouts depend on company rules and the retirement pension type (DC/DB), and retirement income tax is deducted separately.

Unused leave pay
What you're paid for annual leave you couldn't use: unused days × daily ordinary wage.
Formula Daily ordinary wage = ordinary hourly wage × daily hours; leave pay = daily ordinary wage × unused days. On a monthly salary, ordinary hourly wage = monthly ordinary wage ÷ contracted monthly hours (usually 209). What counts toward the ordinary wage depends on each allowance, so check your company's employment rules first.

Loan early repayment fee
The fee for paying off a loan before maturity — usually repaid principal × fee rate × remaining days ÷ loan term (sliding), so it shrinks over time.
Note Methods vary by bank and product: some cap the remaining term at 3 years, some charge a flat rate regardless of days left, and some waive the fee after 3 years. Confirm the exact amount with your loan agreement and bank.
Pyeong · Square metres (㎡)
1 pyeong = 3.305785㎡ (exactly 400/121). Converts the Korean real-estate unit to and from square metres.
Note A "national housing size" apartment in Korea has at most 85㎡ (about 25.7 pyeong) of exclusive floor area. Advertised pyeong usually counts supply area (exclusive + shared residential), so it is larger than the exclusive area.
D-day · Date calculator
Counts the days until a target date and the gap between two dates.
Note A D-day counts the start date as day 0, while anniversaries (like 100 days together) count the first day as day 1. To work out an age from a date of birth, use the age calculator.
Loan interest · Amortizing payments
Monthly payment and total interest for a loan repaid in equal monthly instalments (principal + interest).
Formula Monthly payment = principal × r × (1+r)^n ÷ ((1+r)^n − 1), where r = annual rate ÷ 12 and n = months. A simple calculation that ignores early repayment, grace periods and fees.
VAT calculator
Splits or combines net price and tax at Korea's 10% VAT rate.
Note From a VAT-inclusive total, net price = total ÷ 1.1 and tax = total ÷ 11. Exemptions, simplified taxation and zero rating are not reflected.
Take-home pay (estimate)
Estimates what lands in your account each month after Korea's four social insurances and income tax. A rough calculation that will differ from your actual pay.
Note Estimated with National Pension 4.75%, health insurance 3.595%, long-term care at 13.14% of the health premium and employment insurance 0.9% (2026 rates), plus income and local income tax from a simplified withholding table. The pension applies the monthly income cap of KRW 6.59 million and floor of KRW 410,000 (announced July 2026), so high earners pay less than the plain rate suggests. Actual amounts vary with dependant deductions, year-end tax settlement and non-taxable items.

Savings · Maturity payout
Maturity payout after Korea's 15.4% interest tax, for a lump-sum deposit or a monthly savings plan.
Formula Deposit, simple = principal × annual rate × (months/12). Deposit, monthly compound = principal × (1 + annual rate/12)^months − principal.
For a savings plan with simple interest, each deposit sits for a different length of time: only the first instalment earns interest for the full term and the last earns one month (interest = monthly amount × monthly rate × n(n+1)/2). This is the same method banks use.
Tax Interest income tax 14% + local income tax 1.4% = 15.4% is withheld from interest (rounded down to the won). Actual amounts may vary with the bank's day count (leap years, month ends), preferential rate conditions and early termination rates.

They are not live market rates and can differ slightly from the rates banks post. Buying or selling cash or sending money abroad adds a bank margin (spread), so you will receive less than shown. On weekends and holidays the last business day's rates stay in place.

Hourly · Monthly · Holiday pay
Converts an hourly wage to monthly pay and back, together with Korea's weekly paid-holiday allowance, which applies once you are contracted for 15 hours or more a week.
Formula Paid holiday hours = weekly contracted hours ÷ 40 × 8 (up to 8 hours; 0 under 15 hours a week); monthly hours = (weekly hours + holiday hours) × 365 ÷ 7 ÷ 12, which is 209 hours for a 40-hour week. Korea's minimum wage is ₩10,320 an hour in 2026 and ₩10,700 in 2027. Overtime, night and holiday premiums are not included, and amounts are before tax and social insurance.

Unemployment benefit (job-seeking allowance)
Korea pays 60% of your pre-leaving average daily wage for 120 to 270 days, depending on your age and how long you were covered by employment insurance. The daily amount has a cap and a floor.
Who qualifies You need at least 180 insured days in the 18 months before leaving, you must have left against your will (a recommended resignation, the end of a contract or a closure), and you must be actively looking for work. If you quit on your own, you qualify only for a recognised valid reason such as unpaid wages or an impossible commute.
Formula Daily benefit = daily average wage × 60%, capped at ₩68,100, with a floor of minimum hourly wage × 80% × daily contracted hours (₩66,048 for 8 hours in 2026). For leaving dates in 2027 or later only the floor is updated to the new minimum wage (₩10,700); the cap stays at ₩68,100, and if the floor is higher the floor is paid. Payments arrive 4 weeks (28 days) at a time after each unemployment check-in. The job centre decides the exact amount and eligibility.

International age calculator
Works out your age from your date of birth, along with Korea's calendar-year age and the days until your next birthday. Since 28 June 2023, Korean laws, contracts and official documents all use international age.
Note Age is (this year − birth year) once your birthday has passed, minus one before it. People born on 29 February turn a year older on 1 March in non-leap years. In Korea, buying alcohol or tobacco and military service still use calendar-year age (this year − birth year). The zodiac animal follows the calendar year, so if you were born in January or early February, check whether it was before Lunar New Year (or Ipchun).

Percentage calculator
Works out a percentage of a number, what share one value is of a total, the percentage change between two values, and the value after a discount or increase.
Note Percentage change = (new − original) ÷ original × 100. Going from 10% to 15% is a 50% increase, or 5 percentage points. Raising a value by 20% and then cutting it by 20% leaves 96% of the original, not the original.
BMI calculator
Calculates your body mass index (BMI) from height and weight and gives your weight category, along with the healthy weight range for your height.
Categories This page uses the World Health Organization (WHO) categories: a BMI of 25 or more is overweight and 30 or more is obese. Many Asian countries set lower cut-offs because body fat and health risks rise at a lower BMI in Asian populations — Korea, for example, treats 23 as pre-obese and 25 as obese.
Note BMI is meant for adults. It misreads body fat for very muscular people and during pregnancy, and anyone 18 or under should be assessed with age- and sex-specific growth chart percentiles.
